Life creates WAVES

We learn to RIDE them

 Welcome to Point Of Crisis

This site is created to help anyone who is walking through a Crisis. A crisis can be made in many forms, and each form will need a perspective change. When I lived by an ocean, I loved CATCHING WAVES in many forms.

As you search through our site, you will find recent waves we have ridden, which may speak to you and the waves you are riding.

Jump in, CATCH A WAVE and check things out.
Above are links (HOME, VIDEOS, & RESOURCES) dedicated to helping anyone in Crisis.

We hope you will be encouraged during a difficult moment of life, no matter how short or how long the Crisis may be.

AN UPDATE FROM THE RUMLEY'S

HARD TO EXPRESS OUR THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED US.

_______________

We have had meals brought to my family, comfort from family and friends, people staying with me in Chicago during treatment (eating at Chinese, Oberweis, and more with me), Church that helped us with a place to stay for 7 to 8 weeks of treatment, and much more!

Saying "Thanks" doesn't seem like enough. But... Thanks!

Our Next Steps:

This process all started in 2015.
Now it's MANY years later, and we keep going.
In 2020 we had
another UNPLANNED surprise!

The Stroke Steps:
  • Feb. 14, 2020, I had my first (and hopefully only) STROKE.
    • I had started on the 14th, finally finished on the 16th.
    • Could not move my leg or arm on my right side.
  • MICHELLE and I were very upset. When the stroke was confirmed, the two of us wept and made noises of sorrow we had NEVER heard before.
    • We had some complicated conversations with GOD!
    • Hard to understand after all we have gone through.
    • As we kept moving forward, we kept seeking God.
    • The conversation continues with God.
  • I started some rehab in OSF.
    • We went to Peoria for advanced REHAB at OSF Health Care.
    • This was going to be a long journey overall!
  • We had many come to see us at the hospital.
    • Several came long distances to see how Michelle and I were doing. Each was moving our heart!
      • Including our Small Group who came an hour away to hang with us. Brought games and snacks to leave.
    • It was significant each time.
    • After 3 weeks I came back home.
  • Started rehab at home.
    • Three times a week at rehab OSF.
    • Eventually finished after that over a year of rehab.
    • They were excellent and helped me a great deal.
  • Started rehab from home.
    • Eventually started using CRUSH for workouts and jogging (briskly walking).
    • Still there.

WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED
or CONSIDERING:

  • No matter what, we can still trust God.
  • Let yourself go through this experience in honest humanity.
  • Let yourself ask questions with God. Honest and authentic is necessary.
  • Remember, it's not just me!
    • My wife.
    • My kids, whatever the age (8, 10, and 11 / 15, 17, and 19 now).
    • Other and immediate family.
    • People at work.
    • And it keeps going.
  •  How does all we have been through IMPACT those people?
    • Does this impact their faith and belief?
    • Does this challenge their perspective?
  • WHAT ABOUT YOU?
    • WHAT THOUGHTS BOTHER YOU?
    • Or have you simply buried the past?

A Journey with Pics!

Waves

A part of life is suffering through Crisis. My family and I (Michelle and David Rumley and three kids) know the hand of suffering.

Like most of you, it occurred in moments we did not expect.

This site is a place for sharing our POINT OF CRISIS. It's intended to help anyone encountering a CRISIS in their lives. You are not alone, and you do need inspiration right now. We did too!

Encouragement can happen in many forms. I am starting with videos, audios, and writing as we have walked through finding an intrinsic tumor in my brain, brain surgery, brain cancer, radiation, chemo, and I am still on the journey to healing and recovery. We are well aware it may take the release and let go if life is gone. We live in the harsh reality of CRISIS, but we also look for HOPE at every turn.

We encourage you to watch the VIDEOS in the section above. Its RAW footage regarding our thoughts as we were preparing and walking through this CRISIS MOMENT.

Waves Part 2

Like the image above, all of a sudden, life can wreck in a way we didn't see coming. Then we encounter the impact of the injury, and if we don't take care of the wounds when possible, it will multiply in destruction or effects.

This kind of injury can be physical (like a disease or injury), mental (harsh words exchanged, our value challenged), or even spiritual (attack on beliefs).

We have had many crisis moments throughout our lives. This one was made visible to us in June of 2015. I had been training for a Chicago Tough Mudder in early 2015, and it was crazy. I completed the race in early May and still feel accomplished for simply finishing the race (Yah!!).

Later in May, I started having an unknown moment I couldn't define. After having several occur, I went to see a local doctor. The doctor had great concern for these moments happening, and he ordered an MRI. This MRI would reveal a tumor in my brain and create an avalanche of CRISIS for us.

These 'unknown moments' were brain seizures, and the tumor was impacting several components of my brain as it was close to my right ocular nerve and near my short-term memory components.

Our radiologist explained it to us through a good metaphor. He stated it in the analogy of purchasing land. Where we live, land, and a house cost a certain amount. If we traveled to New York, property and housing there are even more expensive because of location. My tumor was in downtown Manhattan. In a lush expensive place to be settled. In other words, it's right where we didn't want it to be.

This was our WAVES moment. A reality for us teaching us again life can wreck in a way we didn't see coming. Then we encounter the impact of the injury, and if we don't take care of the wounds when possible, it will multiply in destruction or effects.

For this reason, the surgery was on July 30, 2015. You will get more of the story as you journey through our videos and writings regarding these CRISIS moments for us.

We want them to help you in whatever Crisis you find you are in. For each of us to know we are not alone AND know even if we keep getting more crises, we can still remain strong and move forward with the days we have.

This is pointing out our crisis
to help you with yours.
